Dancing the Night Away

This time of year is quite hectic for everyone, and we are absolutely no exception.

But amid the book reports, field trips, and testing, there is one shining event that I love:

Dance Recitals.

It's just so gratifying to see the culmination of those hours upon hours of shuffling girlies back and forth from dance (not to mention the dollar dollar bills that have been applied toward it).

But... because my cheapness is near debilitating, I decided to forgo paying for the professional photos that were taken that day.  Instead, I hung up a black curtain in my loft and took my own.  Like I said: uber cheapness.

Do you like the fold lines in the "backdrop"?

Adi's class dance was to "Tell Me Something I Don't Know".  And she hated the costumes.  She said that she looked like a space alien.

Personally, I thought they were adorable.

Pip's dance was to "Let's Hear it For The Boy".  Thus the country-style.

My goofy girls.

Of course, Porter Pot wouldn't be left out.

Did I mention that I convinced a couple of friends to go on the cheap side with me?

There was no photography or recording allowed during the performance, but I did smuggle my camera backstage and snapped a few pics.

It really is awesome having you best friend forever in your dance class with you.

After the completely awesome performance, we snapped a few pics outside.

Nana and Papa brought the girlies some beautiful flowers.

We were a little terrified of bringing Wy-Fi to the performance, but he actually loved it.  Adi and Pipes were in the very first number, and since I got there an hour and a half early to save seats (oh yeah, I am that dedicated) we had rocking seats.  Wyatt could clearly see his sisters shaking their groove thangs.  After that, he kept shushing everyone around him, saying, "Shhh!  Piper dance!"

As you know, Wyatt calls both of his sisters "Piper".

2 ladies dancing

Dance.

We breath and exhale it around this house.

Three nights out of the week are planned around it.

And when certain little girls aren't attending their lessons, they are subjecting treating the rest of us to a play-by-play reenactment of their classes.

So, I was happy to be invited to watch each of the girls at their actual lesson on the day of their little holiday dance parties.

First of all, Adi is tiny.

 But extra flexible!

Look at her!  She's all: It ain't no thang.

Seriously: it's disgusting.

She also has a little bit of attitude.

And she loved having me there to photograph her every move.

Lucky little Pipes has her bestest friend in her class.

And is pretty darn flexible herself.

She really kicks butt in her across-the-floor moves.

She's currently working on perfecting a one-handed cartwheel for solo in the Christmas dance.

That darn hand keeps coming down on it's own.

Yeah for BFFLs!

Pipes is really enjoying a chocolate cupcake there.

Also: Pip's Christmas dance is to this song of Justin Beiber's (her dance starts at :45).  I am sad to say I actually like the song.

They've got the magic

It was a big deal.

I mean: A BIG DEAL.

The girls got to perform for the Phoenix Sun's halftime show.

Ain't they so sparkly?  Also, their make-up reminded me of a lady-of-the-night (if you know what I'm implying).

Think Adi looks a  little nervous? She was on the brim of tears all night.

Piper, however, kept eating early Halloween candy and asking if it was time to perform yet.

And then.  It was time.

Look girls, you made the jumbotron!

Lucky for you, some kind person posted a video of the dance on YouTube. So, for your viewing pleasure, I present their dance:

They got to walk off the court like bosses.

Posing with their neighborhood dance buddies.

BFFLs:

These dance shoes cost $25.  Yep $25 for foot underwear.

Aunt Whit scored these babies for free for the girlies.

Nana was awesome and paid for the girls to get their cheeks painted by this kindly old man.

Good job ladies! And if any of you fam and friends are interested in watching their next Sun's performance live, they're doing it again in January and I can get you discounted tickets!
